1st day: journey to Paris

Individual journey to Paris. On request, it’s possible to start the journey from several airports in Germany to Paris. Please ask for it. In the evening flight to Antananarivo (Tana), the capital city of Madagascar.

2nd day: Arrival at Antananarivo

Arrival at Antananarivo (Tana), Ivato Airport. Check-out and transfer to the Hotel Gregoire or equivalent. In the afternoon town inspection and visit of the zoological botanic garden Tsimbazaza. We get a first impression of the variety of Madagascar's animal and plant world here. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast

3th day: Perinet - Analamazaotra-nature reserve

In the morning we go to Andasibe in the direction of the East coast through the high fog rain forest. Species of animals as rare as Lemurs and Makis lives here in the Analamazaotra national park (approx. 810 hectares), in the midst of tropical vegetation. The Indri, the greatest Lemur still living, is very remarkable. An unforgettable experience for all nature-lovers is the walk for the observation of the night active animals (flashlight not forgotten). Bungalow Feon’ny Ala or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

4th day: Marozevo

After a day excursion, return journey to Tana. Away stop in Marozevo at Peyreiras private reptiles farm. Besides the most different reptile species, with a little happiness also see the greatest of about 3000 butterflies here (wing span width approx. 30 metre). Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

5th day: Flight to Mananjary

In the early morning transfer to the airport, where we start to the rainforest at the middle east cost to Mananjary. We will inspect an nearly unspoiled region of nature. The Hotel Jardin de la Mer or equivalent waits for us, bed and breakfast.

6th day: Canal de Pangalanes

After breakfast we start to a cosy ride by motorboat on the Canal de Pangalanes. This channel is the only connection to the villages at the hinterland. Slim Pirogen (dug-outs) gracefully glide past to us, loaded with persons, bananas or other products fully. Our destination: the village Ambohitsara. We stay overnight in Irmgard’s Auberge de Ambohitsara (incl. full board). Our accommodation is less electricity like the cottages of the villager.

7th day: Ambohitsara

Opportunity learn to know a madagascan village, incl. visit of the school, the hospital and the church. The villagers grant a look into their huts. A must the walk to the old Ambohitsara. A stone elephant which the ancestors shall have brought along from Yemen stands there. Optional excursions in the dug-out or to a near situated lake are possible. Auberge de Amohitsara, incl. full board

8th day: Boating - Return

The boats brings us back to Mananjary, where we picked up by car and go to Ranomafana the national park. The golden bamboo lemur discovered in 1987 and the smallest frog of the world lives here. Bungalow Domaine Nature or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

9th day: National park Ranomafana

At a great round walk we let ourselves be initiated into the secrets of the park by a native leader. Who feels like it still can take a bath in the thermal springs for the diversion at the end. Bungalow Domaine Natüre or euquivalent, bed and breakfast.

10th day: Antaimoro paper

After breakfast we drive via the Betsileo-vineyards (also named the granary of Madagascar) to Ambalavao, where we will observe the traditional making of the famous Antaimoro-Paper. By an arranged meeting point we will picked up later on our way to the SOA-camp (or equivalent). The camp is situated in the holy Andringitra-mountains, full board.

11th day: Holy Andringitra-mountains

This area is partly opened for tourists since a short time. It involves a lot of secrets. Many plants and creature only exist in Madagascar are living here and places of silence too. At the same time many Fadys (prohibitions) to be observed. This Fadys are holy and very important to the tribe of Betsileo and Bara. SOA-camp or equivalent, full board

12th day: Fianarantsoa

We go back to Madagascar’s modern civilisation. We enjoy the comfort of the Hotel Soafia or equivalent with its bed and breakfast and the possibility to refresh our selves.

13th day: Antsirabe, health resort

You expect rice terraces and a pleasant climate on the journey to Antsirabe. We make a stopover to the Zafimaniry (wood carver) at Ambositra. Ambositra is situated in an altitude of 1500 m (metre). In case of the healthy air and the thermal spring the location is also named “Vichy of Madagascar”. This place is famous also for its half precious stones. Hotel Diamant or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

14th day: Ambatolampy

After breakfast we go to Ambatolampy and climb up the mountain of the magician. We drive back to Tana in the afternoon. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

15th day: Ambohimanga

Today visit of the king hill Ambohimanga, the former capital of the Merina-kings. Overnight in hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast

16th day: Tana - Flight back to Paris

Today visit of the artisan market "Marche d’Artisanat". In the afternoon transfer to the airport Ivato, where we check in for the return flight to Paris.

17th day: Arrival in Paris

Arrival in Paris. Then individual journey to the respective place of residence.
