Special Flora and Fauna

1st day: journey to Paris

Individual journeys to Paris, followed by connection to Madagascar

2nd day: Arrival at Antananarivo

Arrival at Ivato Airport. Check-out and transfer to the Hotel Bellevue or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

3rd day: Antananarivo - Tsimbazaza

Tour of the capital city of Madagascar, Tana, in the morning. Visit to the Zoological-Botanical Garden Tsimbazaza in the afternoon. Here we find a good number of animals and plants unique to Madagascar. Hotel Bellevue or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

4th day: Marozevo

Trip over the highlands into the mist-capped rain forest. Visit to the private farm of Peyreiras in Marozevo. There are 3000 different species of butterflies in Madagascar. Most of them you can admire on the farm. Drive to the Perinet-reserve and night excursion. This is a highlight of the journey. Bungalow Feon ny Ala or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

5th day: Perinet-Analamazaotra-Reserve

After breakfast, a walk into the area where the Indri live. Then we go back to Tana. Overnight stay at the Hotel Bellevue or equivalent, bed and breakfast. Visit to some markets if time is permitting.

6th day: volcanic landscape - minerals

Today we go through the highlands, characterised by rice terraces at Antsirabe, on to a volcanic area rich in minerals. The pleasant climate and the hot springs have made Antsirabe a long-esteemed spa. Our next stop is Ambositra and Zafimaniry, the name derived from the famous wood carving tradition. Hotel Violett Diamant or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

7th day: Journey to the East Coast

We cross the rain forest on a varied, winding and very exhausting route to the East Coast (Indian Ocean). We arrive at the Hotel Ampilao Beach in Manakara (bed and breakfast) The jungle express starts in the early morning (6:45 a.m.)

8th day: Rain forest by train

Fascinating train journey to Fianarantsoa, the capital city of Betsileo (11 hours). We enjoy a trip to untouched rain forest throuh the palms, the tree of the traveller and much more. Hotel Sofia, bed and breakfast. If there are problems with the train, the program is switched correspondingly.  

9th day: National park Ranomafana

Visit to the unique reserve of Ranomafana on our way back. This is the home of the Golden Lemur and of the world’s smallest frog. On a great walk round the park we let ourselves be initiated into its secrets by a native guide. Bungalow at Domaine Nature or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

10th day: Highland trip

Drive back to Tana. On the way there are lots of interesting photo opportunities. The journey is relatively long and tiring, but, apart from approx. 20 km, we have a very well fully developed street. Recreation in the hotel Bellevue or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

11th to 14th day: swimming vacation on Nosy Be.

Transfer to Ivato Airport and flight to the Nosy Be, the famous island of perfumes (without courier). Here we have many options for recreation: water sports, sightseeing, ultralight flying, lonley beaches and lots of sightseeing tours (all optional), like the Mont Passot, a rum factory, the reserve Lokobe, the turtle island Nosy Iranja or the islands Nosy Komba and Nosy Tanykely in the middle of the protected water reserve. Diving centres as well as internationally recognized and appreciated boat lessons are also available. This little island paradise also offers a very nice and lively program for the butterflies among the visitors. All activities are optional, 4 nights in Nosy Be Hotel or euquivalent, bed and demi pension.

15th day: island farewell

Depending on the flight schedule (currently in the evening), transfer to the airport and flight back to the capital city of Tana. Pickup and transfer to the Hotel Bellevue or equivalent, bed and breakfast. If our flight starts about noon, the rest of the day is at your own disposal.

16th day: Tana - Flight back to Paris

We visit the famous artisan market “Marche de Artisanat” in the morning. Transfer to Ivato, check-in and flight back to Paris in the afternoon.

17th day: Arrival at Paris

Arrival at Paris in the morning. Individual journeys back home.
