1st day: Journey from Germany

Individual journey from Germany to Paris. After this flight to Madagascar.

2nd day: Arrival at Madagascar

Arrival at Antananarivo, airport Ivato. Check-in and transfer to hotel Bellevue or equivalent. Short explanations of the journey. Walk to the botanical-zoological garden Tsimbazaza. There we take a first impression to the arts of animals and plants of the island. After this visit to museum with skeletons, graves of different tribes and much more. Visit of kingshill Ambohimanga, also named the blue hill, in the afternoon. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Gregoire or equivalent.

3rd day: Tana - Antsirabe

Go for a stroll to the colourful markets of Tana in the morning. Drive through the characteristically paddy-fields highland to Antsirabe. A pleasant mountain climate and its thermal springs made Antsirabe to a elegant resort. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Arotel or equivalent.

4th day: Antsirabe: in the highlands

Sightseeing walk in Antsirabe, the town of the rikshas and demi-precious stones, centre for commerce , agriculture and industries. Short walk to the volcanic lake Tritriva, if the weather is fine. Further on to Fianarantsoa (240 km), well-known for its vineyards and tea-farm. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Soafia or equivalent.

5th day: picturesque Fianarantsoa

Trip to the unique national par Ranomafana. This is the habitat of the golden lemur, found here in 1987 and the world’s smallest frog. A native guide will show us the wonders and secrets of this park. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Soafia or equivalent.

6th day: Ranohira: savannah and mountains

Today we see the spectacular change of landscapes. Out of thick forests we change into inhabited steppes. Great granite-rocks stick out of the plains. We pass Andringita-Mountain, a strictly protected and religious important biotope. Then via Ihosy in the highlands from Horombe to Ranohira. Bed and demi-pension, Le Joyou del Isalo or equivalent.

7th day: Nationalpark Isalo

Excursion in the national park. We see the contrast from flora of dry to humid vegetation-areas, bizarre rock-formations, caves, canyons, also lemurs and black parrots. Return, bed and demi-pension Joyou del Isalo or equivalent.

8th day: Tulear: at the pirate’s coast

The trip to Tulear on the Western Coast takes us along tombs ornate with woodcarvings, palm trees, baobaos. We cross the half desert landscape. On our way we stop at ssome imposing Mahafaly-graves. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Capricorne or equivalent.

9th day: Tulear - Fort Dauphin

Transfer to the airport and short flight to Fort Dauphin. Transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing in Fort Dauphin, one of the most beautiful town of Madagascar. Bed and demi-pension, Hotel Kaleta at the seaside or equivalent.

10th day: Nature park Nahampoana Reserve

Excursion to the Reserve of Nahampoana, one of the few resorts being in its origin. Beside the different species of lemurs and the specific vegetation you will find more endemic animals, birds and plants. Back to Hotel Kaleta, bed and demi-pension.

11th day: Fort Dauphin - Antananarivo

According to the timetable transfer and flight back to Tana. Transfer, Bed and demi-pension Hotel Gregoire or equivalent.

12t day: The biggest butterfly on earth

Drive over the highlands to the rainforests. Visit to the private farm Peyreiras in Mozarevo. The biggest butterfly on earth (named Komet) has wing-spread of 30 cm. If we are lucky we will see it. Continuation of the trip to the nature reserve Perinet-Analamazaotra, one of the top-events of this program. On a small area you will find a numerous different species as lemurs and makis. Bed and demi-pension Bungalows Feon ny Ala or equivalent.

13th day: Perinet-Analamazaotra-Reserve

We will take a walk in the reserve to meet the Indri, the biggest lemur in the early morning. After this we go to Manambato at the Canal Pangalanes. With a boat to Akanin ny Nofy at lake Ampitabe. Bed and demi-pension in midst of a idyllic surroundings, very rustically bush house.

14th day: On the longest channel on earth

After breakfast walk through the fascinating rainforest to seethe orchids and carnivore-plants. The numerous lakes are the habitat of the Nile-Crocodiles. At noon we start for the ride with the motor-boat on the Canal de Pangalanes to Tamatave. Bed and demi-pension Hotel Neptune or equivalent.

15th day: Tamatave. important Port

Tamatave, the biggest Port Madagascar’s, was already disputed by the seafarers because of its strategically favorable situation in the 18th century. Today Tamatave is the second largest town of the island. Depending on flight schedule it goes on to Diego Suarez to the north today. The “King de la Piste” will wait for us and take us to King’s Logde. Bed and demi-pension King’s Lodge or equivalent.

16th day: National reserve Montagne d’Ambre

We mount up to 1000 m passing the former spa Joffreville to a different climate-conditions. Visit of the great waterfall (about 80 metres). We climb down 20 minutes to have a bath in the waters of that waterfall and then 40 minutes walk on the botanical path. Lunch in free air on a clearing. We enjoy a magnificent view of the north of Madagascar and the Indian ocean at two vantage points. Back to King’s Logde or equivalent, full board.

17th day: Windsor Castle - Baie de Courrier

Two hours car drive toward the Western Coast, two hours ascent through savannah and forest to an old ruin with a great viewpoint. Lunch on the way down. 15 minutes drive to the Baie de Courrier for recreation and swimming. Back to King’s Lodge or equivalent, full board.

18th day: Diego - Antananarivo

Depending on flying times transfer to Diego an flight back to Tana. Bed an demi-pension, Hotel Gregoire or equivalent.

19th day: Flight back to Europe

Visit of the famous market “Marche d’Artisanat” in the morning. Transfer and flight back to Paris in the afternoon.

20th day: Arrival in Paris

Arrival in Paris in the morning. Individual journey home to the respective place of residence.
