Individual journeys to Paris CDG. Flight with Air Madagascar to the capital city of Madagascar, Antananarivo (Tana)
Arrival in Tana in the morning. Transfer to your hotel. After welcome and refreshment, first information and discussion about the further journey. Walk through the zoological botanical garden Tsimbazaza to inspect Madagascar’s plants, different sorts of animals, especially lemurs. In its small museum we take a look at some prehistoric exhibits, among other things skeletons of the extinct giant bird, Rock. Different graves bear witness to the different grave culture of the Madagascan tribes. Breakfast (35 km)
Inspection of the many markets of Tana in the morning. Drive via the central highlands to Antsirabe. Along the road there are paddy-fields in different shades of green, interrupted by the typical red brick houses. Breakfast (170 km)
Antsirabe, town of the rickshaws and semi-precious stones, centre of trade, agriculture and industry. Visit to a workshop where stones are cut for jewellery. In good weather journey to the legendary Tritriva crater lake and perhaps a walk around it. Then continuation of the journey with small breaks by the Betsileo country to the remote Fianarantsoa, centre of Madagascan wine-growing. Breakfast (230 km)
Excursion to the rainforest, national park of Ranomafana. This primeval rainforest is under the protection of the WWF. There is a large number of species of fauna and flora. Several lemurs, reptiles, birds, butterflies can be observeded. A few years ago explorers discovered the golden lemur and the world’s smallest frog. Impressive rainforest experience. The fantastic landscape continues and we journey through savannah landscape to Ambalavao, past the sacred mountain of Ambondrombe at the Andr11/13/2005 7:54 AMra. Breakfast and dinner (290 km)
We walk in through vegetation rich in contrasts, in bizarre rock formations caves, waterfalls and oases. With a little luck we spot lemurs and black parrots. Breakfast and dinner (12 km)
We drive in the direction of the west coast through the semi-desertic landscape . The route is lined by palm trees and Baobab trees. A bit off from the beaten track, we also visit the Mahafaly graves. In the afternoon we stroll through the town in Tulear. Breakfast and dinner (250 km)
Flight back to the capital city. The rest of the day is available to use as you please. Breakfast
Drive to the rain forest. On the way we stop in Marozevo to visit a butterfly-farm, where we can admire the greatest butterfly on earth. Our drive continues to Manambato, to the Canal des Pangalanes. Boat trip to the lake Ampitabe. Breakfast (280 km)
Visit to al Palmarium, a botanical garden in the middle of the jungle, where we discover still more species of animals. Breakfast
Walk in the morning through the rain forest - with a lot of orchids,tropical plants, and the crocodiles that are native to the freshwater lakes. At noon we start out on an impressive ride by motor-boat on the world’s longest canal to Tamatave. Breakfast (60 km)
Sightseeing in Tamatave, the biggest port and the second-biggest city of Madagascar. We then drive to the Analamazaotra nature reserve, home of many different species of lemurs and makis. In the evening we go on a night excursion. breakfast (245 km)
Today is entirely devoted to Madagascar’s flora and fauna as we observe one of the most beautiful nature parks of the island. There’s also a walk on the traces of the Indri. Breakfast.
Return in the early morning by way of a mountainous jungle landscape to Tana. Visit to the kings’ hill of Ambohimanga, with its 200 year-old fort, one of the sacred places for every Madagascan. Breakfast (160 km)
Visit to the “Marche d’Artisanat”, the so-called artisan market in the morning. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon and flight back to Paris in the evening.
Arrival in Paris in the moring, continuation of the flight with Lufthansa to Frankfurt.
