St. Marie - The Pirate’s Island
Journey from BRD (Munich) via Paris on Monday . Back to BRD (other take-off
and landing in addition to BRD are also possible, please enquire) from
Antananarivo on Tuesday.
Flight to St. Marie, Wednesday, back on Monday, two overnight stays in Tana
necessary.

Sainte Marie: width 5 km, lenght 60 km, a
green paradise for long walks, wonderful beaches, round-tour with
chauffeur by car (also option to rent a car for a day), swimming,
snorkelling.
Ilot Madame: small island with a cemetery for
pirates, the oldest church, an aquarium.
Ambodifototra: sleepy village with port, with
market-square and souvenir-shops
Ile aux Nattes: a proper island, beautiful and an
ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling.
Landre: many wild growing spices
If desired, folkloric dances are demonstrated by a native family at
Soanambo
Whale-Watching from June to September, boat-trip.
Bikes (approx. 6 EUR), motorbikes (approx. 45 - 60 EUR), also cars
(approx. 60 - 120 EUR) per day may be hired.
Remarks:
Hotel Soanambo: according to guests it has the
best installations, partly air-conditioned, swimming-pool, but very poor
beach
Hotel Princesse Bora: a new and very exclusive
plant under Swiss management - therefore very expensive. All kinds of
water sports and entertainment are available. Located conveniently near to
the village and to the airport.
Hotel Maningory on the Ile aux Nattes: very nice
and small facility, a favorable alternative to the larger resorts of
higher quality like Soanambo, Cocoteraie or Princesse Bora. Family
atmosphere and very natural.
Note:
Of course there is the possibility of choosing other hotels too. The
flight days and flying times need to be booked in advance and are liable
to change.. This is only an example.
Hotel Cocotaire: very good resort, best beach,
expensive food, located at the end of the island. ideal for swimming,
walking, whale-watching and especially for Nature enthusiasts. Very quiet
and restful. Because of the poor road it is not easy to reach.
Hotel La Crique: good resort, beach also good,
according to the guests the personnel are, however, are insufficient.
Booking is difficult, swimming and whale-watching are good, basic, quiet,
beautiful, located half way along the island.
